New Jersey Future Supports Regional Planning for Warehouse Development in Garden State

TRENTON, NJ (SBN) — A smart growth advocacy group in New Jersey is supporting a bill proposed by State Senate President Steve Sweeney that would expand state and regional oversight of warehouse development in the state.

New Jersey Future, a nonprofit that promotes sensible growth, redevelopment and infrastructure investments, says the legislation recognizes that warehouse demand is increasing and is a threat to smart land use decision-making.

In an exclusive interview with SBN News Director Steve Lubetkin, Peter Kasabach, the executive director of New Jersey Future, says the state needs to balance the demand for warehouse expansion with local concerns about traffic congestion and appropriate use of farmland.
