CHERRY HILL, NJ—(SBN)—The State Broadcast News division of Cherry Hill-based The Lubetkin Media Companies has been recognized again with four awards for its news reporting, including first, second, and third place prizes in the broadcast radio spot news category, and a second-place award in the radio feature category in the 2018 Memorial Journalism Awards sponsored by the Garden State Journalists Association.
The awards bring the company’s total to eight since it began entering the competition.
This year’s awards all recognized stories Lubetkin produced in his role as New Jersey/Pennsylvania correspondent for GlobeSt.com, a commercial real estate news web portal that is part of ALM Media, the New York-based publisher of Real Estate Forum and American Lawyer magazines.
SBN News Director Steve Lubetkin won a first-place award in the Broadcast Radio General News category for his news report, “Fight for Hackensack redevelopment liquor district,” which featured interviews with local business leaders and lawmakers about efforts to create a special limited liquor license to boost retail and residential development in downtown Hackensack, Bergen County.
Lubetkin was also recognized with a third place award for a report on how the Philadelphia chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) is mentoring high school students in the Youth Build Philadelphia program.
In the Broadcast Radio Feature category, SBN won second place for Lubetkin’s interview for GlobeSt.com with Joseph F. Coradino, chairman and CEO of PREIT, a Philadelphia-based publicly traded real estate investment trust that owns more than 22 million square feet of retail shopping malls in the eastern half of the US.
“We’re so proud that our journalism continues to compare favorably and win praise from our news media peers in New Jersey and beyond,” said Lubetkin. “We hope to continue setting the bar high for quality broadcast and print journalism for non-conventional clients and news outlets.”
In 2017, SBN won three awards, including a first-place in the Broadcast Radio General News category, a second-place in the Print/Column category, and a third place in the Broadcast TV/Online General News category. In 2015, SBN was honored with a second-place award in the TV Feature Category.
The 2018 awards will be presented at a dinner May 24 in Weehawken, NJ.
