CHERRY HILL, NJ–(SBN)–A second video news report by State Broadcast News has been recognized by a professional journalism organization. The New Jersey chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists announced the winners of its NJ-SPJ Excellence in Journalism contest May 4, and SBN’s report on the Affordable Care Act produced for NJSpotlight.com received third place recognition in the Online Web Video category.

The report featured a rally held in Union City, NJ to encourage Spanish-speaking residents to sign up for ACA healthcare coverage, and included interviews with US Sens. Cory Booker and Robert Menendez, and US Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

It’s SBN’s second journalism award in 2015, and the sixth honor for SBN and its parent company, The Lubetkin Media Companies LLC, in the past year. Last week, SBN received a second place award from the Garden State Journalists Association for a video news report about efforts to market Fort Monmouth facilities for sale.

In November, LMC won four ASTRA Awards from the New Jersey Communications, Advertising, and Marketing Association (NJCAMA), three for video and one for website design.

“Our ability to gain recognition from our professional peers speaks louder than anything we could say about our capabilities,” said SBN news director Steve Lubetkin, who was on-camera reporter and videographer for the Affordable Care Act news report. “We are thrilled to get the acknowledgement of our journalistic colleagues for the quality and value of the newsgathering work we do.”
